CHAD
40 years old
Homeless for 5 years
Chad has been homeless on and off for the past five years. He’s never been able to stay in housing more than two weeks because he battles schizophrenia and lacks social skills. After being assessed by a community team members, Chad was identified as a strong candidate for a housing voucher due to his needs, but was disqualified due to an accidental arson incident over 12 years ago. Though he did not qualify for traditional supportive housing, through the partnerships developed during the Coordinated Entry System process, the team members were able to work across organizations for housing opportunities. Chad was linked to SHARE! where he is receiving encouragement from staff and peer support groups, giving him the confidence and stability to find gainful employment.
Chad was housed in May 2014.
